Thanks, Anon; it certainly is! It's books that look boring from the outside and are easy to pass over in the charity shop / 2nd hand bookshop (no dustcover, plain cloth binding - usually dark brown or red) but which contain wonderful, fascinating facts & images inside.
This is a wonderful old book and still relevant. I guess your title is ironic.
